A hidden power of writing your journal

“Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart.”

William Wordsworth

Writing has long been thought as a very important part of personal development journey. There is something special when you write about your experiences in your own words. These can be positive and negative experiences. Writing and later reading and re-reading about positive experiences reinforces positive habits and brings a sense of inspiration and strength to follow your dreams. But writing about negative experiences can bring a profound sense of healing as we deal with the problem from somewhat detached space and able to see different points of view.

There are different types of writing one can do. But doing it regularly is the key. Some of the benefits include:

1.       Reduced stress and anxiety

As you write about stressful situations, this can diffuse the strength these kept over you. There is no point of relieving it over and over again. You write about in a very detailed way.

2.       Greater capacity to solve problems

To effectively solve problems, we need to firstly understand them. And to understand we need to take a look from every angle. There will often be more than one way to solve problems. Writing about it will help us outline different ways to get the desired outcome.

3.       Improved ability to accomplish your dreams

We all have dreams that we would like to achieve. There is a hidden power that comes from writing it down. We can outline our dreams very vividly and as we write out it, we can get new ideas and inspirations to take us there.

4.       Greater sense of clarity

Sometimes it can be hard to know what exactly we want. Writing will outline what is really important and can crystalise where we want to go.

5.       Improved health

As our sense of purpose strengthens and our stress is reduced, we have more energy to take the necessary steps that engender our wellbeing.

There are many forms of writing we can follow. But to start, just write whatever it is that you want to write about. There does not need to be any structure to it. It can be different and varied from day to day. But the important thing is to write and be consistent. Benefits will come and you can choose over time to focus on one form of writing that you think works best for you. Keep writing and enjoy seeing your life change for the better.
